Preventing sexual Harassment

Updated: Dec 7, 2021

On top of operating a small shelter for women in the Indian city, Our Snehadhar Pune team runs a range of outreach and awareness-raising programs to help protect vulnerable women and children.

One of their recent initiatives delivered international-level training to staff at the Border Roads Organisation in their Head Office at the Army Center in Dighi, Pune. Thiry-five officers from all over India participated in a session on sexual harassment in the workplace. Co-director of Snehadhar Pune, Mrs Gauri Palande shared information about Snehalaya projects, after which the Legal Head of Mercedes-Benz Company, India, Mr Ranghunandan Pendse explained how sexual harassment in the workplace is a violation of women's right to equality, life and liberty. The male officers learned how it also creates an insecure and hostile work environment, which discourages women's participation in work, thereby adversely affecting their social and economic empowerment and the goal of inclusive growth.
