Our Snehadhar Pune project has made significant contributions to the social sector over the years through its work for women's empowerment. It also recognises other doing the same through an annual awards ceremony.
This year's award was given in Pune, on 3 April, by renowned cine artists and cornerstone of the "Sahyadri Deorai" project, represented by Sayaji Shinde. The award was given to Nandatai Barate, founder of Nandadeep, Pune and Ujwaltai Bagwade, founder of We Together.
Nandatai Barate runs a creche and small school for children, having started with the care of eight children he now works with over 100 children.
Ujwaltai Bagwade started a Grain Bank to provide food aid to social organisations and currently supplies regularly support to 28 organizations.
We also felicitated Advocate Vijay Sawant for his outstanding support in helping us convict the rapists of two minor girls in an infamous crime in Pune.
Our Founder, Dr Girish Kulkarni, shared the highlights of our achievements and explained how important it is for Snehalaya to recognise others and allow them also to celebrate and share their experiences through awards such as thee .
Also speaking at the event, Sayaji Shinde explained the importance of tree conservation and advised children to learn to conserve nature and take joy from creation by collecting and planting tree seeds to help maintain the balance of the environment.
