Updated: Mar 30

Snehalaya operated, Snehadhar Pune is a wonderful team who within themselves have developed an exemplary model of a social organisation.

This is their eighth year and to celebrate its anniversary a beautiful function was planned on 23 March in Nivara Sabhagruh , Ravivar Peth, Pune. Snehadhar Gourav Puraskars were awarded to two dynamic ladies on this occasion.

Shubhangi Zende, a social worker at Mahamanav Baba Amte Sanstha, Shrigonda, is working for the education of Fasepardhi children, and Sharvari Surekha Arun, from Pune works in women's health with a focus on menstrual health and hygiene. Our Sehadhar Pune team, Snehalaya members from Ahmednagar, our Founder, Dr Girish Kulkarni, President Jaya Jogdand, Secretary, Dr Priti Bhombe and trustees of Snehalaya flocked to the programme.

They were joined in the function by enthusiastic Punekars and invitees from other organisations. The senior writer, Shrimati Veena Gavankar, was chief guest, delightfully felicitating our awardees, praising their dedication and determination for such noble causes. She added that strength should be given to such hands which work to maintain our social environment. Accepting her award, Sharvari, passionately urged the audience to change common conceptions and misbeliefs regarding the menstruation cycle. Dr Girish Kulkarni underlined the need of attending the issues which impact our lives and wellbeing, praising both award winners.

In a witty speech, our President Jaya explained the importance of the work carried out by both the awardees. Pune Mahanagar Palika Vice-Commissioner, Shri Mahesh Patil, and prominent donor of the function, Mr Ashtekar, were also felicitated for their contribution to the organisation. Such help counts a lot indeed.
