Organic Farming

Sustainable Practices for Low Water Conditions with Tur and Soybeans

Organic farming is becoming increasingly popular as more and more people are realising the benefits of growing crops naturally without the use of harmful chemicals. In low water conditions, it is important to choose crops that are drought-resistant and can thrive with minimal water. Tur and soybeans are two such crops that are well-suited for cultivation in such conditions.

By practicing mixed cropping of tur and soybeans, farmers can not only increase their yield but also improve soil fertility. By using techniques such as drip irrigation, biocides, vermicomposting and integrated pest control methods, farmers can ensure a healthy crop without the need for chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

Our Krushimitra project aims to guide farmers in adopting organic farming practices and reaping the benefits of sustainable agriculture. By following the recommended techniques, farmers can not only increase their income but also contribute to the preservation of the environment.

Furthermore, by using post-harvest mulch residues from soybeans as a natural fertilizer for tur crops, farmers can further enhance their yield and improve soil health. With proper planning and implementation, farmers can achieve a six-month crop cycle through drip irrigation, allowing them to produce crops in a sustainable and efficient manner.

Overall, organic farming with mixed cropping of tur and soybeans is a viable and profitable option for farmers in low water conditions. By adopting sustainable agricultural practices, farmers can not only improve their livelihoods but also contribute to the health of the planet. The future of agriculture lies in sustainable practices, and organic farming is a step in the right direction.
