Our annual Deepotsav celebration, hosted by the Lions and Leos clubs of Ahmednagar, took place on 29 October as part of our Diwali program. Now in its 16th year, this unique Deepotsav event never fails to bring smiles to the faces of our beneficiaries, brightening their Diwali.
Diwali is celebrated at our Rehab Center with Snehalaya and many other institutions from the city. This enjoyable program is delivered with the cooperation of the Lions, Leos and Bal Kalyan Samiti with the support of charitable citizens. This year included mehndi for girls, tattoos for the boys, games and sweet treats such as popcorn and desserts. A DJ entertained the kids along with Zumba dances.
The main highlight was the lighting up the center with more than 2,000 lamps. Chocolates and other foods were distributed to the children and a lucky draw proved popular. The event finished with a fireworks display setting the sky alight with a rainbow of colours.
Guests included Famous Marathi actors, Srikant Yadav, Makarand Saptarshi and Mangesh Dekhne. Lion Provincial Governor Rajesh Kothawade, Region Chairman, Sunil Sathe, Dr SS Deepak, Sharad Munot, Mohansheth Mandhana, Zone Chairman, Anand Bora, and many others also attended. They distributed prizes for a fort-making, gift card-making and essay competitions.
We are incredibly grateful to all of our extended family of supporters and staff for making our children's Diwali with this special celebration, we hope to see you all again next year...
