Celebrating Talent, Discipline, and Dreams

A vibrant spirit of energy, determination, and joy filled the grounds of Pemraj Sarda College as 324 children from Snehalaya’s seven Balbhavan projects came together for the Winter Sports Meet 2025, also known as the Slum Games. Guided by the inspiring theme “Play with Passion, Win with Discipline,” the event is a powerful celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience among children from underserved communities.

The sports meet featured a wide range of activities designed to encourage both physical and mental development. Athletic events such as 100m, 200m, hurdles and sack races and high jump tested speed, strength, and focus. Alongside these were individual and group activities like dodgeball, chess, elocution, quizzes, kho-kho, and cricket. Children from different age groups participated enthusiastically, transforming the entire playground into a lively space filled with confidence and excitement.

The primary objective of the Winter Sports Meet was to provide children from vulnerable backgrounds with a safe, inclusive, and empowering platform. Through sports, Snehalaya aims to nurture discipline, teamwork, leadership, and self-belief, while supporting the overall development of every child. For many participants, this event was not just about competition, but about discovering their own potential and learning the values that sports instill for life.

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Principal of Pemraj Sarda College, faculty members, Snehalaya’s leadership, project directors, and coordinators, who encouraged the children and appreciated their efforts. During their interactions, speakers highlighted the importance of balancing education with sports and emphasized how games play a vital role in shaping character, confidence, and life skills.

The sports meet began on an inspiring note with a torch relay and the release of balloons, symbolizing hope, unity, and new beginnings. It was also announced that talented athletes identified during the event will be supported to participate in upcoming district- and state-level athletics competitions, opening doors to greater opportunities and recognition.

The Winter Sports Meet 2025 stood as a reminder that when children are given the right opportunities, encouragement, and platforms, they rise with remarkable strength and determination.
