During the Diwali vacation it's tradition for children to go to their uncle's house for four to five days, where their mama buys them new clothes. Unfortunately for children living in orphanages does not even see their own parents and don't know what Mama's village is.
For the children living at Snehalaya we provide them an alternative by going to our uncle's village in Akole. This year, for the first time since the pandemic, we were able to take our children to our uncle, Sanjay Bhujibandh's village. The day started at 4am with children ready to leave at 5am after Ganapati Bappa Morya. Joy and anticipation overflowed on our boys' faces as they played songs and enjoyed food.
After arriving at Akole the children were given refreshments and enjoyed playing in the garden. This was followed by a program at Sri Swami Samarth Seva Kendra where the children were addressed by the Satsaga of Shri Swami Samarth. Hon. Chandrakanta More, who told about the need to keep concentration and contribute to society for the welfare of the society. He added how our Indian culture is amicable and great and our culture is preserved in tribal societies. In the tribal society, a girl is worshipped when she is born. Taking dowry, marriages are done today only by throwing necklaces. These things do not happen in tribal society. Children were informed about how to celebrate Indian festivals. Hon. Chandrakant More then distributed clothes, educational materials, and snacks to the children.
Following the program, we visited the temple of Sage Agasti where they heard more about the sage from Ramayana. The children were then taken for of Mahadev darshan at Nizharneswar where they loved the magnificent temple close to nature.
