Snehalaya English Medium School (SEMS) celebrated Teachers' Day with a spectacular awards ceremony filled with pride, inspiration and gratitude.

The vibrant halls of our Mutha Auditorium echoed with joy and reverence as SEMS hosted its much-anticipated Teachers' Day celebration — a grand event that has become a cherished tradition over the past six glorious years. This year’s ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to the relentless dedication, passion and excellence of the educators and staff who shape the future of our children and society through their selfless efforts.


A night of honours & inspiration


The evening was marked by a prestigious awards ceremony, shining a spotlight on those who go over and above in nurturing young minds. Among the highlights was the presentation of the esteemed Statewide Swami Indira Shamkant More Memorial Award and the Shobha Mahadev Kulkarni Memorial Ideal Teacher Award to the inspiring Ms Sumitra Sudesh Chajlani, a dedicated primary school teacher from Kele Vasti (Telukudgaon) in Nevasa Taluka. Ms Chajlani’s unwavering commitment touched hearts and earned her this well-deserved recognition.


The celebration didn’t stop there. Ms Ashwini Kochhar from Snehalaya’s Ahilyanagar campus and Ms Pratiksha Salve, a former student turned teacher from our Balbhavan Project were also felicitated for their exemplary contributions, embodying the spirit of dedicated service and inspiring countless students.


Honouring the Heart of the Organisation


The ceremony extended its appreciation to exceptional staff members who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Ramakant Dodi from our Mental Health Village Project was honored with the late Gopalbhai Gujar Memorial Ideal Employee Award. His dedication and service exemplify the core values that Snehalaya upholds.


Esteemed Guests & Thought Leaders


The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including the renowned educationist and thinker Dr Girish Ranganekar and Kanchan Papadjea, Principal of Swami Vivekananda School. Their presence added a layer of grandeur and reinforced the significance of lifelong learning and social responsibility.


Words of Wisdom & Heartfelt Messages


Dr Girish Ranganekar delivered an inspiring address, emphasising that sensitivity, determination and social consciousness are essential qualities in shaping responsible citizens. He eloquently stated: “Every student should develop these qualities to become a personality like Dr Girish Kulkarni.” His words resonated deeply, reminding everyone of the transformative power of experiential learning and the pivotal role teachers play as architects of society.


Snehalaya Chair, Jaya Tai Jogdand offered heartfelt advice to students: “Every teacher works tirelessly for your wellbeing. Respond to their efforts with respect and dedication, and your life will be positively transformed.” Her words encouraged mutual appreciation and responsibility.


Kanchan Papadjea reflected nostalgically on her childhood, sharing that teachers’ intentions are always rooted in guiding students to become responsible and compassionate individuals. She highlighted the importance of proactive dedication from teachers to foster talented and responsible citizens.


Voices of Appreciation & Gratitude


During the award acceptance speeches, recipients expressed their heartfelt joy and renewed motivation. Ms Chajlani shared, “This award inspires me to work even harder for my village children,” while Ms Kochhar said, “Seeing my students smile and grow in confidence is the greatest reward.” Ms Salve expressed her gratitude, stating, “Working with Snehalaya’s children has taught me the true meaning of life’s values.” Mr Dodi reflected on his enriching experience, acknowledging the support of colleagues and the organisation.


A Grand Finale of Cultural Performances


The celebration reached its emotional peak as Snehalaya’s talented students took to the stage. Their vibrant performances showcased their gratitude and admiration for their teachers, leaving the audience inspired and teary-eyed.


A Day to Remember


The event was inaugurated by Rajendra Shukre, Honorary Director of our school, who warmly introduced the distinguished guests. The evening culminated with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the school’s Director, Hanif Sheikh, expressing gratitude to all attendees, guests and participants who made the day special.


A Gathering of Prominent Personalities


The celebration was further enriched by the presence of esteemed personalities such as our Secretary, Dr Priti Bhombe, Founder, Dr Girish Kulkarni, Director, Pravin Mutyal, Director, Anil Gawade, Bhushan Deshmukh, Vaishali Chopda and Usha Kholam, whose support and encouragement underscored the importance of community in educational excellence.
