During the long, hot summer holidays, our 9th and 10th standard students have been actively engaging with various Snehalaya projects as part of an immersive learning initiative. These visits have included inspirational tours of Himmatgram, Manasgram, Anamprem, Radio Nagar, Snehhadar, Snehjyot, and the different departments of our Rehabilitation Center.
One of the highlights was a meaningful interaction with our visionary founder, Dr Girish Kulkarni, who shared insights into the mission, challenges, and impact of Snehalaya's work. The purpose of these visits is to help students familiarize themselves with our projects and gain a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities of our project managers and staff.
We also had the privilege of visiting the MIDC Fire Station, where Fire Station Officer Dr Jagatsing G. Jat provided a captivating and educational session. He discussed the daily operations of a fire station, career pathways in fire services, required qualifications and courses, and vital fire safety protocols. The firefighters treated us to a thrilling live demonstration of fire extinguishing techniques and safe building evacuation procedures.
Upcoming visits include the MIDC Police Station, District Law Courts—with planned interactions with judges and lawyers—and a visit to a local bank.
All our hosts have remarked on how intelligent and thoughtful the students’ questions have been, and we are incredibly proud of their curiosity and engagement. It is our hope that these experiences will have a lasting and positive impact on their personal and professional development.
