"When we look back 10 to 20 years from now, the world would see a new generation honouring women for who they are rather than judging them for who they want to be."
In a world that has long dictated who women should be, what they should wear, how they should speak, and how far they should go - Snehalaya chose, once again, to tell a different story. On 18 March 2026, Snehalaya hosted the Agnishikha Puraskar Sanmaan Sohla- a celebration and tribute to women.
Now in its second year, the Agnishikha Award is a prestigious platform recognising and honouring accomplished Indian women doing exemplary work across diverse fields. The ceremony was graced by two distinguished dignitaries- Mr. Kamalesh Sharma, Retired Indian Foreign Services Indian Ambassador to UK and former 5th Secretary General of the Commonwealth; and Ms. Sonali Kulkarni, renowned actress and social advocate. Sonali Kulkarni is the recipient of this Agnishikha Puraskar for 2026. Together, they brought to the stage a rare combination of global perspective and grounded lived experiences. Nearly 500 women volunteers from Support groups of Snehadhar Women empowerment project, along with the Snehmitras from 12 village blocks across Ahilyanagar district, also filled the space with a presence that was both powerful and symbolic.During her interview with Snehalaya Trustee Manasi Chandgadkar, she spoke about her struggles, and her evolution over the years. Her journey is a living proof that when a woman is given space to grow, she does not just rise - she lifts others with her.

Mr. Kamlesh Sharma, who had worked for causes of women in the Commonwealth emphasised that the development of women is not a separate agenda - it is the agenda. He left the audience with a resonant thought: when families choose to prioritise the education of their daughters, the trajectory of society itself shifts forward.
