International Non-Violence Day

Updated: Oct 13, 2022

Snehalaya is proud to support women and children in difficult circumstances by providing them with the required protection, rehabilitation, vocational training and much more, helping them grow into strong, independent individuals ready to face the world.

Every 2 October is Non-Violence Day in honor of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday. Despite living in the 21st century, there remains a constant violent behavior posed towards a significant number of women and children daily.

This year we joined @Youngvolunteersorganisation in an Instagram Live collaboration with @snehalayaindia to share the tragic stories of the endless struggles and hardships that these women have faced. Speakers included Dr Priti Bhombe, Snehalaya Director, and @dwitithanawala, a YVO Volunteer.

They discussed about how YVO & Snehalaya has collaborated to work for women and children facing violence, what was the significance of the 'International Non-Violence day' for Snehalaya and what kind of work has been done so far. We pledged to come together and continue working against violence towards the most underprivileged sections of the society.
