As we all know that girls’ education has become the need of the hour but poverty, child marriage, child labor, lack of awareness and other issues prove to be major hurdles in girls education. In particular, the percentage of girls dropping out is higher in secondary and higher secondary schools. We hoped that our campaign will provoke discussion and bring about a change in the plight of these young girls.
Girls aged 15 to 25 years old were invited to submit an essay on the ‘Importance of Girl’s Education’ including success stories of girls who have been given an opportunity to be educated, social or religious hurdles in educating girls, challenges faced while educating girls and solutions for the same, and more…
The competition was free to enter, each essay had to be between 800 and 1000 words and could be written in Marathi, Hindi or English language.
Scholarships prizes for computer courses and other education expenses were awarded to the winners at our #withMalala closing event on 15 June.
