We are pleased to announce that our Balbhavan project was the first ever recipient of the PoleStar Social Impact Award for Education.
The Annual PoleStar Awards recognise outstanding talent among Indian media professionals and encourages exemplary work in IT and Business Journalism. In its 18th year the awards were announced in Chennai on 27 October 2017.
This year they introduced the social impact awards in the categories of education, livelihood, health and empowerment and our Balbhavan was selected as outstanding winner based on our excellent work, impact and scalability. The keynote speaker, Mr Azim Premji, from WIPRO, stressed the importance of children’s education and the need to work with government agencies to further scale up the good work we are doing. It was a real moment of joy and pride when our Balbhavan was announced as the winner and Honorary Director of the project, Sanjay Bandishti was invited onto stage to receive the award on behalf of our Balbhavan team.
It’s a real testament to the hard work and commitment of our Balbhavan team and supporters that we stood out to the judging panel for our work in seven of Ahmednagar’s slums and the assistance they are providing in allowing others to replicate our model in other communities within our district.
