Violence against women and child abuse is endemic and on the rise in India, despite stricter penalties. A woman is raped every 15 minutes. A child goes missing every 8 minutes. Acid attacks and honour killings continue unabated. Perpetrators typically escape punishment.

Our first appeal two years ago was hugely successful with 60,000 signatures to our petition and over £70,000 pledged. Money spent in projects that have a huge impact in address the root causes and supporting the survivors.

#Hervoice 2017

Sadly reported incidents in India are on the rise, in early 2017, a story was breaking of a 16-year-old girl being gang-raped, thrown from a moving train and left for dead with serious injuries. #HerVoice 2017 is back with even more partners to stop the violence, to support survivors and empower women.

Snehalaya is 1 of 15 anti-violence organisations in India participating in #HerVoice. On the ground, experienced and culturally sensitive to the complexities of the issue, we know how to reach these hidden women and we work with local government and other agencies to bring lasting change. We can make this go away for good, but we need your support.

Throughout July all your donations will receive a 50% match given by our charity partner GlobalGiving. For every £10 pledged we receive £15 to fight to make this stop.
