Youth Sensitization Camps

The youth of India is the strongest force to bring about a change in society. Youth sensitization camps are conducted twice a year by Snehalaya.

The objective is to nurture a sense of social harmony, unity, dignity for labour, obligation towards society and the nation. In each camp more than 500 young boys and girls participate days with educational activities for 5 days. They are also introduced to the problems in slums, rural and red light areas. Discourses, lectures and dialogues by eminent personalities from all walks of life, are conducted in these youth camps.

Padma Bhushan Anna Hazare, Ramon Magasasay awardee Dr. Rajanikant Arole, Shri Ramesh Kacholia, Shri Mamun Akhtar, a well-known social activist from Kolkata, Dr. Vikas Amte and Dr. S. N. Subba Rao, an eminent Gandhian etc. have guided the participants in these camps.

The students participate in group discussions on the various burning issues like, dowry, abortion of girl child, corruption, addictions, terrorism, HIV/AIDS, division of society in the name of religion and so on. The participants also take an oath to contribute for problem solving.

In one of the recent camps, Dr. Prakash Kataria, a well-known medical professional from Pune, guided the participants about the social evils of liquor and drug addction.  Mr. Kanojia, a Yoga teacher trained the participants in Yoga.  Inspirational films and documentaries are shown to the participants in these camps. They also take part in cultural programmes. Recently, the youth camp students planted 2000 trees in the premises of Snehalaya.   Some students organised street plays in various slums to increase awareness about the importance of academic education. In one of the programmes, all the participants donated blood to 'Jankalyan Blood Bank' at the end of the camp. 

Youth Motivation Camp 2011

Snehalaya & National Youth Project has jointly organized the 10th  YOUTH  MOTIVATION CAMP on 150th birth anniversary  of India's famous Spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda on January 12-14 2011 in Snehalaya's Rehabilitation Center, M.I.D.C., Ahmednagar .(Maharashtra).   About 150 selected youths from different faculties are expected to participate in this constructive event. Dialogues with various successful & eminent personalities like Padmbhushan Anna Hazare,  Mr.Krushnprakash, I.P.S. officer,  Dr.Girish Kulkarni, Director-SNEHALAYA, presentation of social documentaries, films,  inspirational songs, group discussions, yoga, games etc. will be some important  features of this camp.  Free accommodation will be provided to the pariticipants. Registration fee- Rs.100 only.
