1. HIV Hospital expansion

Snehalaya pioneers as an institution in providing care, support, and rehabilitation for HIV positive individuals since last 16 years. HIV positive people face problems not only due to health but also due to social stigma and discrimination in society, schools, and colonies and also in private and govt. hospitals.  There have been occassions when even the doctor's have denied operating on HIV positive patients. The current 20 bedded hospital in our community care center is overflowing. We are unable to extend admissions beyond 5 days for most inmates.  Moreover, it is not well constructed and ventilated and does not have separate toilets. Hence, we are looking to build a 100  bedded hospital which will include separate isolation wards where infectious patients also can be cared for.

We have the required land within the 10 acres of our rehabilitation center.  We need the financial assistance for the construction and purchasing the hospital equipments.

Below is an estimate for the completion of the project:

Construction : INR 950/sq. feet X 20,000 sq/feet = INR 190,00,000
Hospital equipments : INR 50,00,000/-
Reconstruction of Isolation ward : INR. 30,0000.
Total:   2,70,00,000/-

2. Hostel for 300 inmates of Snehalaya in Ahmednagar City.

Snehalaya's present rehab center is about 17 km. away from Ahmednagar city. This long distance from the city poses a great challenge in admitting our inmates into good quality schools, which are mostly located in the city. We are looking to construct a hostel within 5 km of the city limits. This will also enable us to find  good quality teachers for tutoring our inmates and volunteers to work at the rehab center.  This hostel facility can also be utilised by our earlier inmates who are employed, for a subsidised cost, untill they are able to find accommodation outside the institution.

Below is an estimate for the completion of the project:

Purchasing the land : INR. 1000/sq. feet  X 15000 sq. feet = INR 1,50,000,00
Construction : INR. 950/sq. feet. X 15000 sq. feet = INR 1,42,500,00
Total : INR 2,92,50,000/-

3. Vocational training Center:

Typically, most sherlter homes and NGOs release their inmates when they attain 16-18 years of age. The destitute children most of the times do not find employment easily, and run a great risk of getting involvled with anti social elements. Snehalaya is presently offering tailoring courses for victim women, in our own premises in rehabilitation centre. We plan to create a vocational training institute to offer courses such  as screen printing, greeting card making, beauty care, etc. Snehalaya has identified that there is good demand for Lathe Machine Operator in MIDC  (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) of Ahmednagar. We are looking to start this course at our Rehab. Center.  Fashion designing is another course planned to be  started in our pipeline. The vocational training center is primarily focused on income generation activities for the beneficiaries (above 18 yrs.).

4.Short stay home for unwed mothers and raped victims in Snehankur

Snehalaya has established the Snehankur Adoption Center in 2005.  Snehankur not only provides a home for every child, but also ensures the rehabilitation of the mothers (unwed mothers, raped victims, widowed mothers, etc). There  is a huge social stigma associated with such victimised mothers. Snehalaya provides counseling to the mother and  in many cases to her family as well.  We are very happy to send the mothers back to their homes in cases where the families accept them. Else, we care for them and work towards their rehabilitation. Currently, the pregnant mothers are  having to stay at the Snehankur adoption center premises as we do not have any other space to accomodate them. Hence, we have plans to construct a short stay dormitory for these women The estimated cost for the construction is Rs. 8,00,000/-

5. Parivartan Sankul at Shevgaon

Parivartan Sankul is our vision for changing the destinies of the most underpreviledged section of Indian society.  We have constructed and running the 'Parivartan Sankuls' at Shrirampur, Kopargaon and at Ahmednagar in the heart of the red light areas.  We run the grass root activities like day and night care centers, Self help groups, counseling centers, STI and HIV clinics, crèche and pre-primery class and anti trafficking center through the Parivartan Kendras.  Now Snehalaya has decided to establish its Parivartan Sankul at Shevgaon. The institution has purchased a land of about 4000 sq/feets in Shivnagar, red light area of Shevgaon.  More than 250 women and children are facing inhuman life in this area.
The cost for construction is INR 950/-sq. feet X 5000 sq. = 47,50,000/-
Furniture,medical and other equipments:     5,00,000/-
Grand total :  INR 52, 50,000/-

6. Library and Computer Center for Bal Bhavan

Bal bhavan, a very successful project, primarily focused on providing education and improving health conditions of the children living in the slums, in and around Ahmednagar. We have a proposal to start library facilities in all the five Bal bhavans in the city.  We are also looking to equip these libraries with 12 computer machines and also provide internet connection to help the children advance their knowledge.

The estimated cost of computers and software is Rs.3,00,000/-

7. Improvement of facilities in Rehabilitation center at MIDC

Snehalaya has constructed a spacious dinning hall for the children at the rehab center. All the children presently, eat on the floors and carry back their plates to their dormitories.   We are in need of dinning tables, chairs/stools, kitchen trolleys and cleaning equipment. The estimated cost of dining hall improvement is Rs. 3,00,000/-

In view of good health of our children, regular exercise is very essential.  We are currently providing coaching for Yoga, Pranayam, Suryanamskar and Judo-Karate.  All the inmates are very much interested in these activities and are showing good results. In fact, two of our inmates, Mahesh and Amol have participated in the National tournament of Karate championship and are  now preparing for the international tournament.  We are in need of good gymnasium equipments at the rehab center. The estimated cost is Rs. 1,50,000/-

A good garden has a significant positive influence on the mindset of human beings, especially when they have  been exploited and are coming from inhuman conditions. We have plans of developing a garden in  the premises of our rehab  center. The estimated cost of the material and skilled workers is Rs. 2,50,000/-
